I am Bill Foery, owner of Black Diamond Tree Service, and I’m writing with concerning news. The USDA Animal and Plant Health and Inspection Service has confirmed that the destructive emerald ash borer is in Vermont. This destructive beetle begins as larvae under the bark of ash trees where they feed on the inner bark tissue. Once infested, ash trees rapidly decline and are killed in three to five years.
While this isn’t a concern at this very moment, it will become concerning. If you have ash trees on your property you would like to save (or aren’t sure if the trees you have are ash) call or email Denise and we’ll discuss prevention options to save them.
Please do not transport any firewood to your home in Vermont as this is one way this beetle has traveled on its destructive path.
