To the Editor,

Our small but bustling Wilmington library was generously supported on Saturday, June 24, by Mary Jane Finnegan of Twice Blessed, the Christopher Bakriges Quartet and the enthusiastic audience at the summer jazz series concert at Memorial Hall. Thanks to those who gave us $800 to continue our work and also supported our Friends of the Library group who supplied delicious food during the concert.

This summer is the eighth jazz series that Mary Jane and Chris have organized for the benefit of area nonprofits. The work involved is extensive and the quality of the live jazz played is extraordinary. If you haven’t attended, please do and you will be delighted by the musicians playing with Chris. Every performance is different and each is top quality!

A typical reaction last Saturday was expressed by a couple from Chicago who had just checked in at Crafts Inn. They walked in and said “we heard amazing music coming from next door and couldn’t believe we were in a small town in Vermont.”

The next concert in the summer series will be Saturday, July 22, at 8 pm, and will benefit the Deerfield Valley Rotary. Hope to see you there.

Meg Streeter
