This weekend is the return of Tough Mudder New England. Despite moans from some business owners that Tough Mudder does little for them, we still believe the overall impact of the event is good for the valley. Thousands of participants and their families, friends, and supporters will descend on Mount Snow this weekend, and the valley will be hopping like a good ski season weekend. What can be wrong with that?
As with any event, there are always those who see more benefit and those who see less. Tough Mudder is no different. But the reality is the folks at Tough Mudder love returning to Mount Snow year after year, and we love hosting them. It’s a relationship that goes together like water and dirt. Sure, it might be a little messy from time to time, but what’s some mud between friends?
By the way, as the article on page 1 points out, Tough Mudder is expanding its brand beyond staging events. One of the more interesting things is the company’s plan to branch out into fitness centers. We can only hope some thoughtful entrepreneur buys in for a Tough Mudder Bootcamp franchise here in the valley. We think it would be a great cross-marketing opportunity.
Welcome back, Tough Mudder. We wish everyone involved continued success and will welcome you anytime you want to drop by.
