“Macbeth” contains some of the most exquisite language in Shakespeare’s canon. In this play, one of Shakespeare’s great heroes goes astray and the result is a nightmare. “Macbeth” will be performed by two casts of actors ages 7 to 18. There are two “Macbeths” (one per cast), a 12-year-old and an 18-year-old.
Performances are always free, offering an affordable cultural, and creative experience to participants and audience members. When one cast is performing, the other cast is the tech crew.
Actors at YSP take on all aspects of production from acting and directing to all areas of stage tech. The program is designed to show its young participants, their families, and the community that the works of William Shakespeare are not dull or above them, but delightful, accessible, and fun.
In addition to the Brattleboro performances, YSP East has been invited by Amherst College Department of Theater and Dance to perform in Webster Hall, Studio 3, on Saturday, December 14. Amherst College performances are at noon and 6 pm.
Running time is three hours with two intermissions. Doors open 20 minutes prior to show time.
