PITTSFIELD, MA- Harold Thomas Sweeney, 72, of 128 Willow Cove Road, Cheshire, died on Monday, August 26, at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Home.

He was born in Flushing, NY, on April 21, 1941, a son of the late Nelson and Florence (Hamel) Sweeney. He attended schools in New York.

Mr. Sweeney was a self-employed businessman, having owned and operated several companies.

He was a member of the Cheshire Rod & Gun Club, the Lenox Sportsmen’s Club and the Stamford (Vermont) Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed boating, camping, sailing, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the ocean.

He is survived by his longtime companion and fiancée Sandra L. Soule, with whom he made his home; daughter, Suzanne Carrier and her husband Russell, of Stamford, VT; two sons, Michael Sweeney and his wife Paula of Searsburg, VT, and Brian Sweeney and his fiancée Melody, of Brattleboro, VT; one stepson, Kevin Soule of Cheshire; one stepdaughter, Laurie Millikan and her husband Steve, of Westfield, MA; former wife, Marlene Martin Sweeney, of Readsboro, VT; four grandchildren; one great- grandson; six step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Sweeney.

The funeral will be on Friday, August, 30, at 12 pm, in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac Street, Adams, MA 01220. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery, Cheshire.

Calling hours are Friday from 10 am until the time of the service in the funeral home.
