SANTEE, SC- Andrew McClary Fisher, 78, husband of Marcia Childs Fisher, died Saturday, July 27, at his home after a brief illness.

Born February 6, 1935 in Hartford, CT, he lived most of his life in West Hartford, CT. He was the son of the late Harry Jerome and the late Mary Hackett Fisher.

He graduated from Trinity-Pawling School in Pawling, NY, and Nichols College in Dudley, MA. He served two years in the United States Army from July 1957 to June 1959 in Augsburg, Germany. He received an honorable discharge. He also served four years as a sergeant in the local reserve unit.

He lived in southern Vermont for 25 years with his beloved wife where he was a comptroller of G.S Precision for many years, was a town auditor for 10 years, and treasurer of St. Mary’s in the Mountains Episcopal Church.

After moving south, he and his wife restored and operated the Magnolia Inn with a partner in Pinehurst, NC.

His uncle was the first editor of Sports Illustrated magazine, which gave him the privilege of going to Yankee Stadium as a young man.

While at Nichols College he received the Cuban Award in soccer as outstanding player. He grew up in a golfing family and loved the game of golf and was so pleased to have had two holes-in-one during his life time.

He is survived by his wife; one brother, Henry H. Fisher, of Simsbury, CT; one niece, Dr. Audrey Fisher Shank and her husband Dr. Gregory Shank; one nephew, Daniel Fisher-Owens and his wife Dr. Susan Fisher-Owens; and two great-nieces, Sarah Shank of Reedsport, OR, and Grace Granger Fisher-Owens of San Francisco, CA.

A private service will be held at a later date.
