The Dover Quartet formed at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2008, when most of its members were just 19 years old. They gained a reputation for a level of professionalism and musical subtlety that many more experienced ensembles struggle to capture.
The quartet will perform three pieces: Beethoven’s Quartet in E minor, Opus 59, No. 2; Brahms’ Quartet in A minor, Opus 51, No. 2; and Stephen Dankner’s “De Profundis.” Dankner, a local composer, composed “De Profundis” in honor of Williams College Professor of Music Emeritus Irwin Shainman.
