For the past three years the Gateway Garden, a perennial garden at the intersection of Routes 9 and 100 South, has welcomed visitors and residents to Wilmingtion. This year, thanks to volunteers who worked tirelessly on Thursday, May 16, and to businesses and individuals who donated funds, supplies, labor, and equipment, the garden was expanded to more than double the original size.
Thanks to the Rotarians John Gannon, Wally Godfrey, Alan Greenspan, Betty Crawford, and Angel Balch. Thanks also to volunteers Dana Consolino, Andy Schindel, and Sara Sugarman, and to Wilmington Beautification Committee members Cheryl Rothman, Keith Herbert, Len Chapman, Fred Skwirut, Alice Greenspan, Mary Wright, and Lee Schindel. Special thanks to Mary Ann McLeod who designed the garden and helped all along the way.
Also, thanks to Barry Reardon, the Rotary Club, Sally Gore, Peter Wimmelman, Bob Grinold, and Marshal Boyd, who donated funds, supplies, and equipment. Thanks also to the highway department for preparing the site and to the sewage department for their special compost.
