BRATTLEBORO- Twilight Music presents an evening of Irish, Scottish, and American folk music by Boston-based traditional music quartet Long Time Courting and New England fiddler and folksinger Lissa Schneckenburger on Friday, December 14, at 7:30 pm.

Long Time Courting features rich, soaring, four-part vocal arrangements and high energy dance tunes.

Sarah Blair (fiddle/vocals), Liz Simmons (guitar/vocals), Shannon Heaton (flute/vocals), and Valerie Thompson (cello/vocals) share a love of traditional folk music as well as contemporary material. They bring elements of various genres to their repertoire in a way that is seamlessly innovative, inventively arranged, and skillfully rendered.

Long Time Courting brings together the talents of four individually accomplished musicians and singers. Blair honed her playing as a sought-after session leader in Boston and in the world of American contra dancing, as well as with her band The Sevens and with other ensembles. Simmons is the lead singer of Annalivia, a string band that fuses Celtic and Americana musical styles. Heaton is a veteran performer who has toured nationally with her husband, guitarist Matt Heaton, for over 10 years.

In addition to being an engaging performer, Thompson is an active teacher and recording session musician in the Boston area, and her original music has scored independent films and plays.

Schneckenburger is a winsome, sweet-voiced singer who brings new life to traditional ballads, and a skillful, dynamic fiddler who captures the driving rhythm and carefree joy of dance tunes old and new. Her fiddling is uplifting and lively, and her singing is gentle and evocative. Both in concert and in the studio, she is regularly accompanied by some of New England’s best musicians, including guitarist Bethany Waickman and accordion player Jeremiah McLane.

Tickets are $16 for general and $14 for students and seniors. For ticket reservations and information call (802) 254-9276.
