To the Editor:

The Mountain School at Winhall has a longstanding Halloween tradition. Each year, as close to Halloween as possible, all of the students ­– and most of the faculty and staff – dress in their costumes and parade through Bondville, with a police escort, trick-or-treating at each of the businesses along Route 30. This year, due to inclement weather, the parade had to be canceled.

In a most welcomed 11th-hour gesture, each of the businesses usually visited sent emissaries to the school to dole out treats as the students mounted an impromptu parade around the school’s halls.

Thanks go to the following businesses whose generosity and flexibility saved the day: Bondville Post Office, The Bromley View Inn, Citizen’s Bank, Cota & Cota, The Fox Stop, Mountain Realty, The Norse House, Red Dot Communications, Schwartz Law Offices, Stone’s Lodge & The Fat Spy Tavern, Stratton Rentals, Wiley Construction, The Winhall Market, Winhall Real Estate and Vermont Country Properties
