The first Choose sNOw event will be on Monday, March 6. Registration will be from 5:30 to 6 pm. The program will begin at 6 pm. This event must be attended by both student and a parent or legal guardian-there are no exceptions. Parents and children are asked to sit together for the presentation. This event will feature Cara Filler. Filler’s presentation is on traffic safety, risk-taking, and peer pressure. Her program is one of the most effective of its kind and her “Power of Choice” message has reached, touched, and inspired millions of young lives in five countries.
The second required event will be on Thursday, March 23, at 6:30 pm. Only students are required to attend, but parents are welcome. The guest speaker for the evening is Harriet Turk. For more than 20 years, Turk has been inspiring teens and adults to discover their true identities and pursue a life of substance. She has worked as a probation officer, youth programs coordinator, flight attendant, pharmaceutical sales rep, college-level instructor, and is a nationally-known professional speaker, trainer, and consultant.
A make-up date will be held in May at the Twin Valley Middle High School for participants who are not able to attend the second March presentation. Contact Cindy Hayford at firstname.lastname@example.org to register for this presentation. All educational presentations are sponsored by the Deerfield Valley Community Partnership in collaboration with Mount Snow.
Once the student has completed both educational events and participation in Green Up Day, they will receive a 2017-2018 Mount Snow Season Pass valued at $700. All passes will be mailed to the students in fall 2017. To take advantage of the Choose sNOw program all students must register in advance and pay a fee of $50.
Go to www.mountsnow.com/the-mountain/choose-snow/ to register. Registration begins Thursday, February 16. Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis with a limit of 250 spots.
