DOVER– It started as an answer to the growing popularity of microbreweries back in the 1990s with modest expectations for success, and now, 20 years later, the Mount Snow Brewers Festival has become a Labor Day weekend tradition for thousands of beer lovers. To celebrate, the resort is expecting more breweries than ever to be on hand, with more than 40 of them pouring from almost 90 different taps, in addition to bigger live music and other special offerings for festival-goers to enjoy.

The resort has left the choice for Sunday’s live music up to the people, posting on the Mount Snow Facebook page as well as the Mount Snow Brewers Festival Facebook page a poll asking to vote ‘70s, ‘80s, or ‘90s for what era of music they’d like to hear. Results are still being compiled.

The Sierra Nevada Beer Camp will be making a special stop at Mount Snow during its cross-country festival tour, bringing along 12 different beers that were created in collaboration with 12 of the best craft breweries in the nation. There will be a limited amount of each beer to sample and they will be available only on the Sunday of Brewers Festival as part of the general beer offerings.

Mount Snow’s executive chef, Michael Giorgio, will be conducting a beer pairing dinner at the 1900’ Burger restaurant on Friday, August 29, featuring four gourmet courses each paired with one of the special Beer Camp brews.

Also new for this year, Mount Snow has teamed up with the American Cancer Society to hold the Hops for Hope 5K run/walk which will take place on Saturday morning, August 30, before the Brewers Festival. All proceeds from registration and additional fundraising efforts will be donated to the American Cancer Society with the largest individual fundraiser going home with a 2014-2015 Mount Snow season pass.

Live music for Saturday will feature Brewers Festival favorite The Jeff Tuohy Band, who is bringing a few friends along to join him on stage for a special performance.

Tickets for Mount Snow Brewers Festival when purchased in advance online are $25 for one day, $35 for two days for ages 21 plus, and $12 for one day, $20 for two days for anyone under 21 and designated drivers. Day-of admission is $35 for one day, $45 for two days for ages 21 plus, and $15 for one day, $23 for two days for under 21. Designated drivers pay $20 for one day and $23 for two days.
