To the editor,

The Twin Valley School Board would like to thank Wilmington Police Chief Joe Szarejko for his donated service to the school last month. As the local Wings-sponsored Junior Iron Chef cook-off approached on February 12, it was noted we could have a parking problem. The event was scheduled to take place at the Twin Valley Elementary School. A large number of attendees was expected and it was likely there would not be sufficient space in the regular school parking lot.

Because of this and because of Chief Szarejko’s desire for the safety of all, he came in on his day off to prepare extra parking space at the school. He brought his own truck and, on his own time, plowed the soccer field to allow for overflow parking. Without this generous gesture, we would have indeed experienced a parking problem. We extend our sincere thanks to Joe for his time and skillful plowing.

On behalf of the Twin Valley Board,

Kathy Larsen
