To the Editor:

At the risk of leaving someone out, on behalf of the 2013 State Champion Twin Valley boys soccer team, I would like to thank the following for making Saturday a very special memory back in the valley:

First and foremost, the fans. It was a crowd like no other. Because of you, the match may have been over before it even started! Your presence at the game meant more than you will ever know to those young men. To see people there who no longer have a direct link to the school was extra special!

Thanks to the Dover, Wilmington, and Whitingham fire departments, the Deerfield Valley Rescue Squad, the Wilmington PD, and Greene’s Servicenter for the flatbed truck, and driver Todd Crawford who escorted the boys through town in a parade they will not soon forget!

We also thank those who were responsible for the reception back at school: Jen and Karl Nilsen, Doug and Cammie Swanson, Cindy Bernard, Becca Sweeney, and of course two of the best who have been doing this for a long time - Flo Wilson and Janet Boyd.

In addition, we thank Maryann Lozito for her assistance all season long in a variety of capacities; the Booster Club for the decorations and pizza; Jack Deming of The Deerfield Valley News for going above and beyond with his awesome photos and online postings in a very timely manner after the match; Little Anthony’s for the pizza; and Dale Doucette for the sign as you enter Wilmington proclaiming the boys state champions ( thanks for the confidence in us!).

It was a perfect ending to a perfect season and the players and coaches thank you for the overwhelming support from start to finish.

Buddy Hayford
