BRATTLEBORO- Brattleboro Figure Skating Club sent the following US Figure Skating Association skaters to compete at State Games of America in Hershey PA: Rose Dumaine and Reagan Shippee from Vermont and Amelia Opsahl from New Hampshire. The team skated in nine events bringing home one silver medal and eight other ribbons.

Rose Dumaine, of Jacksonville, took home a silver medal for second place in the limited beginner program, as well as placing sixth for pre-preliminary artistic, and eighth for pre-preliminary compulsory moves.

Reagan Shippee, of Vernon, placed fouth in showcase, sixth in preliminary program, eighth in artistic, and 11th in compulsory moves

Amelia Opsahl, from Chesterfield, NH, placed seventh and 12th for her programs.

Overall the skaters performed and placed well given the competition; there were thousands of skaters from 47 states. These young skaters must qualify by receiving a medal in their home state games competition in order to receive an invitation to State Games of America. Dumaine won a gold and a silver for Vermont in the Nutmeg Games in Connecticut in 2012; Shippee placed fourth in the Bay State Games in Massachusetts in 2012, and a silver at the Nutmeg Games in 2013 for the state of Vermont. Opsahl won a gold medal at Bay State Games in 2012 for New Hampshire. All three skaters have already qualified to skate at the next State Games of America in Lincoln, NE, in 2015.
