BRATTLEBORO- A Wilmington man died as a result of injuries sustained in morning crash in Brattleboro, on August 3. Police say Robert Avallone, 51, died at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebenon, NH, while another occupant of the vehicle, Jennifer Flagg, 38, of Wilmington, was listed in stable condition after being airlifted to Albany Medical Center.

According to a press release from Brattleboro police, at 2:30 am on August 3, police attempted to stop a vehicle that was operating erratically, but the vehicle sped away. Police decided to terminate their pursuit of the vehicle due to increasing speeds. When officers came upon the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Western Avenue, across from the West Village motel, they determined it was the same vehicle they had pursued earlier.

Rescue Inc. transported Avallone and Flagg to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, from which both were airlifted to the other hospitals.

Investigation into the crash was ongoing at the time of publication. Police ask that anyone who came into contact with either Avallone or Flagg in the hours before the crash contact Det. Lt. Michael Carrier at (802) 257-7950.
