Mrs. Scott was born in Greenfield, MA, where she grew up and later married Allan Scott, who predeceased her in 2009. The Thompson House staff was very fond of her and took exceptional care of her since 2006. Before Mrs. and Mr. Scott moved to the Thompson House they lived in North Adams, MA, in a beautiful victorian house filled with the antiques she loved to collect. She was also a talented florist. Before moving to North Adams they lived in Jacksonville. They were active in the Couples Club and the Jacksonville Church.
Mrs. Scott leaves one sister, Sandra, of Imperial Beach, CA, and four children and their spouses, Deb and Neil, Craig and Kim, Pam and Gordy, and Michelle and her fiance Gerry. She also leaves nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the staff of Thompson House. She took great joy in the programs offered, and even had a song written about her. She considered it her duty to watch over the patients.
“Gramma Jan” was a kind person, always concerned for people and animals. She was the fun Mom in the neighborhood and was very devoted to her family.
She was big on holidays, her family’s sporting events, movie times, telling stories, and all celebrations.
Funeral services will be held on July 27 at the Jacksonville Church at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Thompson House, 80 Maple Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
