BRATTLEBORO- Stephen Sumner Hill Sr., 71, died on Friday June 14, in Brattleboro. The son of Burton and Grace (Sumner) Hill, he was born in Wilmington on March 24, 1942. He grew up in West Halifax, which he considered his home. He attended schools there and graduated from Whitingham High School. He resided in West Halifax most of his life where he operated a small engine repair and lawn care business. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was an avid stamp and baseball card collector. He always followed his favorite team, the Dodgers, starting when they were still in Brooklyn. He enjoyed maple sugaring with his dad and cousin Malcolm. One of his favorite winter activities was to go snowmobiling with his son, Steve or Malcolm. He played softball on various teams.

Mr. Hill had attended the West Halifax Bible Church. His family was his life, and he was devoted to his children, grandchildren, and his cousins. He will be sadly missed.

He leaves his children, Stephen S. Hill Jr. and wife Ginger, of Swanzey, NH, and Melissa E. Hrabovsky, of Brattleboro; beloved grandchildren, Justin and Jocelyn Hill, Alexander and Arianna Hrabovsky, and Jesse Clodius; sister, Ellen Powers and her husband Bud; and nephew, Randall Powers, all of East Lyme, CT; as well as numerous cousins.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 18, at the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Marlboro Center Cemetery.
