Ray loved baseball and was an avid Yankees fan. He was a former member of the Wilmington Lions Club but his real passion was his family and his daily involvement with his grandchildren. Although Ray’s last days were difficult, his mission was to see family in Florida and take his family on their planned vacation. Before his last adventure he was able to spend time with many treasured friends. He maintained his strength and humor until the end.He will be sorely missed by his family, including Cortland Wood, his daughter's partner, and his community. He leaves his wife Mary Jane (Quigley) Finnegan who he married on his 50th birthday, September 18, 1993, after living together for 11 years; daughter Marie Finnegan; grandchildren Pacei Len and Lillian Paige, all of Wilmington; nephews Sean Finnegan of Long Island and Thomas Finnegan of Hawaii; Mary Jane’s sisters Kathleen Hemson, Virginia Blake, Georgann Quigley and Elizabeth Liscio, and their spouses; nieces Emily Davis, Melinda Dubosky,and their spouses; Jane Erickson, Ashley Hemson, Amie Liscio; nephews Mark Blake, Frank Liscio, George Liscio; several great nephews a great niece and many Finnegan cousins
A service to celebrate the life of Ray will be held at Memorial Hall in Wilmington at 6 pm on Monday, June 17, with a reception immediately following at The Wilmington Village Pub
In recognition of the outstanding hospitality they received the family suggests memorial gifts in Ray’s memory be made to the Bay Pines VA Fisher House in care of Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363.
