WHITINGHAM- Henry L. Jones, 80 a resident of Gates Pond Road, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 26, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Jones was born in Williamsville on September 23, 1932, the son of Preston and Pauline (Hall) Jones. He received his early education in a one-room schoolhouse in Halifax and then in Wilmington schools. Henry married the former Joyce Pospesil in Brattleboro on March 17, 1960; they recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. He had worked faithfully at American Fiber and Finishing in Griswolville, MA for 36 years, retiring in 2000. Henry was a 50-year member of the Unity Lodge F&AM. With his Yankee ingenuity, he could fix just about anything.He enjoyed old cars, especially his Model A Ford. Throughout his life he enjoyed riding motorcycles, a passion he passed on to his family. A humble man by nature, he would do for others out of his own kindness without any expectations. He will be remembered as a solid, hardworking man who absolutely loved having his house full of family and friends.

He leaves his wife, Joyce; sons Henry Jones Jr. and wife Lisa, of Shelburne, MA, Jaymes Jones, of Searsburg, and Dean Jones, of Wilmington, daughter Gail Jones of Westmoreland, NH, son-in-law Randy Boyd, of Wilmington (Henry’s daughter Teresa Boyd died September 6, 2009), brother Ralph Jones of Leawood, KS, sisters, Edith Kingsley, of Broad Brook, CT and Laura Brissette, of Wardsboro; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the Jacksonville Community Church on Friday, May 31, at 11am. Burial will follow in the family lot in Jacksonville Village Cemetery. Friends may call at the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm when the family will be present.

In lieu of sympathy flowers and in honor of Henry’s doctor, Richard Dundas, the family encourages memorial gifts be made to The Bennington Free Clinic in care of Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363.
