Mr. Kaffka was born on April 17, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and then went on to graduate from Pratt Institute in 1950 with a BA in architecture.
Mr. Kaffka retired in 1993 from the real estate and construction division of the IBM Corporation where he was the project manager and designer of numerous assignments throughout the world. Previous associations were with Eliot Noyes and Associates, New Canaan, CT; Keith Hibner, Lloyd Neck, NY; Daniel Schwartzman, NY; and partner in Kaffka/Kistler, Ridgefield, CT. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Mr. Kaffka is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frieda; his sons, John W. and James R.; his daughter, Susan, all of CT; his grandson, James M., of Kingman, KS; a brother, Richard, of Lakeland, FL; sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Covey and Allen Funeral Home was in charge of private arrangements.
