Once again the Deerfield Valley community has flexed its heart muscle by supporting the first Cos Fund Charitable Trust fundraiser at The Hermitage Club at Haystack on Sunday, February 24.
Volunteerism is alive and well in the valley; and without our volunteers the event would not have been the outstanding success it was and we offer each and everyone of you a double high five. A double-double high five to Evelyn Vaccaro who worked tirelessly to develop the Cos Fund website amid a thousand and one changes by us.
The impetus for the fundraiser came from Jim and Donna Barnes of The Hermitage Club at Haystack, who graciously offered Haystack Mountain and The Hermitage facility for the affair, and what an affair it was.
Friends, neighbors, relatives, friends of friends, and other supporters of the efforts of the Cos Fund, came together to ski and board, bid on auction items, and eat, drink, and be merry.
The auction items were offered by Tom Gagliardi, of Thomas Industries of Hartford, CT.
The headliner at the live auction was a Hermitage Club membership package, which was donated by Jim and Donna Barnes.
Ross Powers, Olympic gold medalist, presented a board from his personal collection for auction, which was a hotly contested item.
A Nor’Easter Ski Pass and a preferred parking pass, compliments of Mount Snow and Kelly Pawlak, were pursued by those seeking a little bit of pampering in their ski soup.
A multitude of auction items were donated and offered for the live or silent auction and help to create the something-for-everyone atmosphere found at auctions.
The generosity of the local merchants was truly amazing. Restaurants, artists’,tradesmen, lodges/inns, gift shops, all “gave it up “ for the Cos Fund.
Michael was very proud of the Deerfield Valley and the Deerfield Valley has shown they were proud of Michael.
Love and thank you all.
