To the Editor:

As residents of Wilmington who escaped from the ice and snow to spend a few months in New York City each late fall and winter, we always look forward to receiving our weekly issue of The Deerfield Valley News. We were astonished to read in your recent issues about the fundraising events held for NY and NJ residents affected by Hurricane Sandy organized by valley residents, Mount Snow, and the Deerfield Valley Rotary Club.

The special event at Mount Snow to open the slopes early for skiing and boarding at a cost of $10/day with all proceeds going to those suffering from the devastation caused by this superstorm was especially impressive. We know firsthand that many of you have not recovered fully from the destruction caused by Hurricane Irene and we are so touched that you had the will, energy, and time to think of others’ misfortunes.

On behalf of our “other” neighbors here in NYC and the region, we want to thank you sincerely for your generosity. We are so proud to say that we are from the great little town of Wilmington.

Carol and Tom Grant
