Upcoming groundbreaking play

Actors rehearse a scene from “The Laramie Project”

BRATTLEBORO- New England Youth Theatre presents the groundbreaking play “The Laramie Project” by Moises Kaufman, directed by Hallie Flower.
In October 1998, Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, severely beaten and left to die, tied to a fence on the outskirts of Laramie, WY.  Five weeks later, Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project went to Laramie, and over the course of the next year, conducted more than 200 interviews with people of the town.  From these interviews they wrote the play “The Laramie Project,” which is a chronicle of the life of the town of Laramie in the year after the murder and has gone on to be one of the most performed plays on American stages.
Performances are April 6, 7, 13, and 14, at 7 pm, and April 7, 8, 14, and 15, at 2 pm. Tickets are $13 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $10 for students. For more information visit www.neyt.org or call (802) 246-6398.
