To the Editor:

Wanda, thank you for your “every child needs a family” letter in last week’s issue. We have been doing foster care here in West Dover for nine or 10 years. Just last year we ventured out and adopted our first son and then November 15, we adopted our second son. The first is now in college and our second is only 12. There are so many kids in Vermont who need caregivers and a Forever Family. We never thought of the idea of adoption because we knew there were so many kids that needed foster families, but one day something just said it was time to work on a forever family. As we have adopted sons, we continue to do our foster parenting and respite. Our lives just continue each day to be enriched by our kids.

I hope your letter and my writing might inspire someone to step forward, reach out and touch a child’s life, helping them to mend their wounds from their abuse that they have, but never asked for. I know it’s the holiday season but these kids need us all year round, not just a couple weeks out of the year.

There is a child in Vermont that needs your love and your family to be their Forever Family – would you please reach out and give a child what they want so badly – love and a Forever Family or even a foster mom and dad.
