To the Editor,

Regardless of how hard the New York Yankees management tries to deny it, A-Rod in his latest “outburst,” as the newspapers are calling it, has a point. He feels pretty sure that the New York Yankees are hoping, maybe even secretly praying that Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig suspends him. A-Rod believes this will allow the Yankees to try and void his contract and avoid paying him. The fact is that Yankees brass have stated that they plan to come in under the $189 million luxury tax next year and voiding A-Rod’s contract will accomplish just that. So, whether Bud Selig pays any attention to this or cares about the Yankees’ financial issues or factors any of this into his decision concerning the suspension is the question. He has stated in the past that he wants an even playing field, so to speak, around the league and some team managers have stated that if A-Rod is suspended that will give the Yankees a huge financial break.

So, is this all a big conspiracy as A-Rod believes? He believes that all the authorities are teamed up against him and are making an example out of him for their own benefit. I doubt that it’s an organized conspiracy, but the pieces of the puzzle are conveniently fitting right into place for the Yankees. The lawyers may have something to say about it in the end. But, that probably won’t help A-Rod ever play baseball in the majors again. I’m sure he will get some of his money as he goes down in flames.
