She is survived by her three children; Dianne Koch, of Pennsylvania; Sharain Miovech Jones and her husband Allen Jones, of Vermont; and James Giesen, of Vermont; her one sister, who is 91; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Miovech.
She was a member of the Wilmington Baptist Church and previously a member of the West Dover Congregational Church, when pastored by Marsha Dorey. She was extremely active as a member and on the board of the Ludlow Senior Center for which she served 11 years and received many awards.
In Pennsylvania, she was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Levittown, serving on many committees.
In Hawaii, where she resided with her husband John for five and a half years, she was a very active member of the Puula Church. She missed her family in Pennsylvania so she adopted an entire family in Hawaii.
She was extremely involved in her family, friends, and Al-Anon. She helped take care of her friends that were no longer able to care for themselves. She enjoyed quilting by hand, making quilts for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, making her children’s clothing by hand. She loved Jesus, gardening, reading, and having good clean fun. She was on bowling teams, extensively traveled all over with her husband John, then her daughter Sharain, and her daughter’s husband. She took a cross-country trip with her daughter Dianne and her family. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school in Pennsylvania and Hawaii. She loved the Lord, and loved serving him. She was loved everywhere. She always will be very much loved and missed.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 29, at 11 am, in the Wilmington Baptist Church. Mrs. Giesen requests no dark clothing or flowers but rather all gifts be contributed in her memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Her daughter Sharain will collect all such contributions, submitting cards and checks to St. Jude’s in one large package. Send contributions to Sharain Jones, PO Box 505, West Dover, VT 05356.
