To the Editor,

For some of our friends and family, you already know that life is changing for us. Matt is moving on with the help and devotion of a dedicated team from Families First: Julie, Josh, John, Katie, Bruce, Maria, Mickey, Wyatt, Carley, Tyler, and I know there are others whose names I don’t know. He has a new home, a roommate, two great home alliance caregivers, and daytime staff. So much work has gone into making this happen for our son. There is no way we can ever thank Families First enough.

It has not been easy for us to “let go.” Josh and John can attest to that! Thanks for putting up with all the tears. Being a full-time parent and caregiver for 35 years doesn’t just stop or go away. But this grief that we are currently feeling shall too pass. We are sad but also happy to see our son blossoming in such a short time. Oh, and I shouldn’t forget Matt’s devoted best friend, his dog Maisey who moved with him.

It’s been a journey, folks! There are good people in this world. We have proof.

Cheri and Roger Crawford, Wilmington
