It's time for a rebirth

To the Editor,

As the saying goes, Italian hotels are profitable only after the third bankruptcy. Let’s hope that the Hermitage Club/Haystack make it after the second first, as the club and mountain provide jobs and represent a major source of value for members/homeowners, from which we all benefit through an enhanced tax base and maintaining critical mass for our towns.

I urge the towns of Wilmington and Dover, the bank, and the relevant economic development agencies to make every effort to facilitate the rebirth and continuation of the club/mountain. At the same time, I urge them to seek to disperse the remaining properties among many individual owners and small businesses, as we do not need another overextended octopus that can bring us all down.

Best,

Don Lessard

Wilmington
