Confessions of a doughnut addict. Hi, my name is Mike and I’m a Dunkin’ Donut addict. As most around here know, they built a Dunkin’ Donuts in the big town of Wilmington. We all have to drive by it at some point, and some multiple times per day. I was a reformed doughnut addict with a five-year Dunkin’-free run. Until a couple days ago that is. I had to go to the post office which is right next door to the brand new shiny Dunkin’ Donuts store and while walking from the car the smell of the doughnut permeated throughout my nose. The smell was too much, my brain said “we want doughnuts.” The urge was too much for me to handle! I just had to have a donut now! I quickly looked around to see if anybody was watching as I hurried to the door and disappeared inside.
It was like entering heaven, the angels were singing, fresh donut smells filled the air, the shelves were full of all kinds, my knees were shaking and I was just about to turn around and leave when a pretty voice says “Can I help you, sir?” That’s all it took, without hesitation my mouth blurted out, yes, please, two jelly doughnuts. I snuck back out to the car hiding my recent buy from public view as I jumped in and drove away like a bank robber. Force of habit I reached over into the bag and grabbed one. Needless to say, they were both gone before I hit the edge of town. I fought the urge to turn around and get more and continued home.
That one slip ruined me, I thought of nothing but doughnuts day and night. I have been losing sleep, pacing around the house wanting to go back down there. Well today it happened again, I had to go to the bank, two buildings away. I couldn’t help myself, I lost my will power. This time I bought a six pack so at least one would make it home. I fear that this will lead to 12 packs and who knows from there.
Anybody know where they hold the Dunkin’ Donut Anonymous meetings these days?
