DOVER– Mount Snow has announced the return of its Choose sNOw program. Now in its sixth year, the program allows area youth in grades six through 11 to earn a 2018-2019 Mount Snow season pass, while learning about substance abuse prevention and engaging in community service.

Students attend two substance abuse prevention educational events, sponsored by the Deerfield Valley Community Partnership in collaboration with Mount Snow, and participate in a community green-up day, in order to earn their pass.

The first Choose sNOw event will be on Wednesday, March 7, from 6 to 7:15 pm. Registration is from 5:30 pm to 6 pm. This event must be attended by both the student and a parent or legal guardian-there are no exceptions. Organizers ask that parents and children sit together for the presentation in order to generate discussion later.

The kickoff event will feature Eddie Slowikowski. One dream this internationally known speaker has achieved in his life is running the mile in under four minutes. Since 1957, only 442 runners from the United States have achieved this feat. Through over 24 years of storytelling and high-energy showmanship, he shows participants how to follow through on a vision from inception to achievement and how to create positive energy.

The second required event will be on Wednesday, March 21, from 6 to 7:15 pm at the Grand Summit Resort Ballroom. New this year: this event must also be attended by both the student and a parent or legal guardian.

The speaker for the evening is James Orrigo, a motivational speaker who uses original music to entertain and personal stories to inspire. When he was in high school, he suffered a severe brain injury. During his recovery, he discovered a passion for using music to help others. His life is a testament to the power of overcoming adversity, never giving up, and living purposefully through service to others. Orrigo inspires youth across the nation to pursue their passions, serve others, and make positive lifestyle choices.

Once registered students have completed both educational events and participation in green-up day, they will receive a 2018-19 Mount Snow Season Pass valued at $700. All passes will be mailed in fall 2018.

To take advantage of the Choose sNOw program, all students must register in advance and pay a fee of $50. To register visit
