WARDSBORO- Berner Magnor Somme, 69, a resident of White Birch Lane, died Monday evening November 19, at his home. Mr. Somme was born in Sola, Norway, on August 1, 1943, the son of the late Mikal and Margit (Ueland) Somme, and attended local schools. Mr. Somme came to the United States at the age of 18 on May 21, 1962. He entered the carpentry trade and worked as a carpenter all his life. He was a former member of the Sons of Norway in Croton Falls, NY, enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, following NASCAR, and cherished times spent with his family.

Mr. Somme is survived by his wife, the former Ragna Thorsen, whom he married on June 29, 1963 in Brooklyn, NY; his daughter, Nancy O’Malley and her husband, Ed of Mahopac, NY; his son Michael Somme, and his wife Kathryn of Hopewell Junction, NY; his twin sisters, Malfrid Hervold of West Wardsboro, Vermont and Kari Olsen of Norway; his sister, Alles Sola, of Norway; his sister-in-law, Hellena Somme, and his grandchildren Craig, Alexandra, and triplets Tyler, Carter, and Julia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bjarne Somme.

A celebration of the life of Mr. Somme will be held Saturday, December 8, at 12 pm, at the Wardsboro Methodist Church. Rev. Peter Carlson will officiate. Interment will be private. There are no visiting hours.
