After studying drums and percussion with the likes of Warren Smith and Earl Williams and serving four years as a Navy bandsman, Smith performed for many years with New York’s Alvin Ailey Dance Company as well as touring with “The Wiz.” He performed for President Jimmy Carter’s Inaugural Gala and also worked with the Ellington Festival and band director Mercer Ellington.
Bassist Mollin is on the faculty at the State University of New York and performs with the Catskill Symphony and Glimmerglass Opera. He has long-standing ties with Spyro Gyra alumnae Jeremy Wall as well as legendary pianist Paul Bley.
Leonard is simply a Vermont treasure. The master tenor man, a veteran of 30 years of military band service has played for presidents, kings, queens, and many other heads of state from around the world. Also appearing is Eldred, Wilmington’s own singing sensation.
The October 11 program runs from 8 to 10 pm at the Memorial Hall and admission is by donation. Refreshments, wine, and beer will be available. Proceeds from the show will be donated to Wilmington’s Pettee Memorial Library.
