For years, Bennington County has been unable to provide leadership to represent their county and clubs at the VAST level. Because of that, notice was sent to all club presidents in late October to hold elections, VAST would move ahead to help solicit folks that may be interested to be nominated and elected at an upcoming meeting facilitated by VAST.
The same happened in Windham County in early November, but that county has only had vacant positions since the retirement of longstanding board member Roone Gibbs this summer.
During the summer volunteer leaders from the VAST Board went to both counties to hold meetings of support for this process, but only a very small number of people from each county went to the meetings, so we have now moved on to the next stage of making sure the two counties are compliant with VAST to ensure that funding and projects to the clubs in these counties do not get stopped because of noncompliance as per the VAST bylaws.
At this time there are three people interested in positions in Windham County and one in Bennington County. Nominations can continue to take place up until the time at the meeting when all nominations are called to be submitted. Each club in each county has one vote for each open seat in their respective county, so it is very important to make sure your club has at least one person in attendance!
Meeting information is below for each county. Any club member from each county is welcome to participate. Each location has space for 30 to 40 people.
The Bennington County Meeting is December 2, at 10 am at the Ravens Den, 1844 Depot Street, Manchester Center. The Windham County Meeting is at Grafton Elementary School, Grafton, on December 2, at 2 pm.
