To the Editor,

Thank you for the privilege to express our views. I refer to the last issue of The Deerfield Valley News and the letter about reenactors.

There are still a few of us left who fought to conquer that Nazi flag of World War II. It truly was a “sick” time for millions of people at that time in history.

I endured 10 months under the Nazis’ flag. I have friends in northern Vermont who still undergo therapy for the trauma they experienced under the Nazi flag. It was unpleasant. It was hurtful.

Living history reenactors attempt to educate today’s citizens and as long as their depiction is accurate and an American flag stands nearby, I’m all for it.

That time in history needs to be learned, understood, and remembered.
