CRYSTAL RIVER, FL- John Paul Meckstroth, 64, died January 25. He was born to the late Dr. Paul and Mary Meckstroth on June 29, 1949, in Bryan, OH. Mr. Meckstroth graduated from Bryan High School, Bryan, OH, in 1967. He loved participating in all sports and outdoor activities: golf, baseball, basketball, football, skiing, hunting, fishing, and trapping. He especially loved cooking and collecting cookbooks.

After attending Ohio State University, Mr. Meckstroth pursued a career as a golf teaching professional. He worked at Orchard Hills C.C., Bryan, OH; Firestone C.C., Akron, OH, and Quail Ridge C.C., Delray, FL. He left the golf profession for a short time to work as marketing manager and regional VP for Petro Lewis Securities. He returned to his love of golf from 1988 to the present as a golf instructor for the Original Golf School, later known as the Jay Morelli Golf School, in Crystal River, FL, and at Mount Snow.

Mr. Meckstroth is survived by one brother, Don Meckstroth, of Meredith, NH; two sisters, Diane Meckstroth, of Buena Vista, CO, and Jane (Steve) Miller, of Bryan, OH; longtime girlfriend, Michele Smith, of Myrtle Beach, SC; three nephews, Scott (Suzi) Meckstroth, of Ventura, CA, Ryan (Andrea) Miller, of Bryan, OH, and Derek Miller, of Columbus, OH; and one niece, Amy (Shad) Blakey, of Eagle, CO.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 29, at Strickland Funeral Home, Crystal River. A service will be held at a later date to be determined in Bryan, OH. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
