I want to thank the voters of Whitingham for their support on Wednesday, March 27. There was a great turnout for the vote and I thank those who helped to get the message out that I was running and why. I was very encouraged by this year’s Town Meeting. The meeting reminded me of years past when community members walked up to the microphone and voiced their questions, ideas, and even making amendments to the amendment.
At some of the recent ones I felt many voices had fallen silent for whatever reasons but maybe this year with all that faced the voters locally with our taxes going up significantly we all found our voice again.
I want to congratulate Mr. Williams and sincerely hope that the education piece of this total K-12 collaboration is brought to the forefront. The math scores will be addressed with all those who are studying the data and a solution is on the way. A lot of time has passed where boards stated the education would be excellent even the word superior was used and taxes would stay the same or even go down.
I hope with the Whitingham board staying intact and Mr. Williams working to address the concerns the community we’ll see the educational programs improved, the savings that are expected, and new families moving in because of the efforts.
Thank you for your support.
