Comai was born and raised in Readsboro and is indeed a local treasure. She and her husband Rudi have five children and 18 grandchildren.
Comai helped coordinate a music program at Readsboro Central School for 15 years and co-directed music for the Girl Scout Rocky Mountain Day Camp in Readsboro for 15 years. For 25 years she has enjoyed leading circle times at the Mount Snow Day Care and co-presenting workshops for their employees and others.
Comai is a delight to listen to and her enthusiasm for music and children is irresistible.
This workshop is perfect for parents and grandparents, as well as those who work with small children- kindergarten and preschool teachers, and daycare workers who want to learn songs and nursery rhymes to engage and delight small children. Chants and finger play help develop coordination and motor skills. Rhymes sensitize a child to the individual units of sound that make up a word, helping them learn to read more easily when the time comes. Most of all, it’s fun, and lets children know that adults enjoy spending time with them. Participants will learn songs, rhymes, and finger-play to use with young children and take home a booklet of some of Comai’s favorite songs.
The workshop is Saturday, February 9, from 2 to 4 pm. Cost is $20. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited and preregistration is required. Call Mary Angus at (802) 423-7706 to register.
