Clayton returned to Vermont on Saturday to take part in the Carinthia Open, an AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) bronze-rated event. Clayton placed third in the pro division, while teammate Ali Perotti (Canaan, CT) took second among women. Clayton will move on to the Dumont Cup, an AFP platinum-rated event scheduled for Sunday River, ME, before heading west again to join the MSA freeski and snowboard teams and compete in the 25th annual USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain, CO.
Alpine skiers Arianna Welter (Babylon, NY) and Tess Beyer (Brewster, NY) were among the 89 competitors from the New England states, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,s and Virginia who traveled to Gunstock in New Hampshire for the Francis Piche Invitational for U12 and U14 athletes. Beyer finished 10th overall in the Sunday slalom on a very icy course.
