Latchis Gallery, 50 Main Street, Brattleboro, VT

Painter Sarah Adam and photographer Daniel Barlow may use different mediums, but the two artists strike similar themes in a new joint show, "Six Feet Under Vermont."

The exhibit draws inspiration from New England's scenic and historic cemeteries and presents these sites as places of wonder, magic and mystery. Many of the paintings and photographs in the show focus on well-loved Vermont cemeteries.

Adam is an illustrator and painter residing in Brattleboro. Utilizing acrylic on found surfaces, her works focus on local views of silhouettes and patterns made by natural and manufactured objects, including tree branches, powerlines, and most recently, grave markers. She is a graphic designer at the Brattleboro Food Co-op.

Barlow, a former Brattleboro resident, has photographed more than 100 Vermont cemeteries and is the co-founder of Green Mountain Graveyards, an ongoing project dedicated to the state's historic and unusual burial grounds. He lives in Montpelier and works as a lobbyist at the Vermont Statehouse.

The joint show kicks off on Friday, April 5th at Latchis Gallery on 50 Main Street in downtown Brattleboro, during Brattleboro's monthly Gallery Walk. Adam and Barlow will host a reception from 5pm to 9pm to discuss their work.
