John Chadwick

VIEQUES, Puerto Rico- John Slocum Chadwick, 68, of West Dover, VT, died Sunday, May 13, in Esperanza, Vieques, of natural causes.
Mr. Chadwick was born in Boston on May 26, 1949 to Noel and Helen (Brewer) Chadwick.  He grew up in Plymouth, MA, attended local schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1968.  He went on to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, graduating in June 1970 with an associate degree in civil and highway engineering.  He moved to Dover, VT, soon afterward.
Growing up in Plymouth, Mr. Chadwick  fell in love with sailing and the ocean.  He also enjoyed golf, skiing, and walks on the beach.   He had been vacationing in Vieques for over two decades, and loved to sit on the beach and read.  Mr. Chadwick was a respected businessman in Dover, first starting John Chadwick Inc. Excavating and Trucking, then later, Mount Snow Motors.   He was the consummate hard worker and could always be found at the shop, or around town, running some piece of equipment.   
Mr. Chadwick is survived by his beloved Marjorie (Kitsy) Mayo, of Duxbury, MA; his beautiful twin daughters, Heather Lee Chadwick, of Richmond, VT, and  Melissa Chadwick Walker, of Stratton, VT;  sons-in-law Matthew Aiken Dyer, of Richmond, and Boomer Ryan Walker, of Stratton; his wonderful grandchildren, McKenzie Faith Walker, Noah Brewer Chadwick-Dyer, Maggie Noel Walker, and Ethan Everett Chadwick-Dyer; his brother, Robert Chadwick, of Vail, CO; and his aunt, Alice Brewer, of Hingham, MA.
Services will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, June 2, at the family cottage, 7 Stephens Lane, Plymouth, MA, with a reception to follow.  There will be a memorial celebration Saturday, June 30, in Dover, VT, time and location to be announced.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vieques Love at www.gofundme.com/viequeslove to support the rebuilding of Vieques after Hurricane Maria.
