Don’t miss these powerful, high-energy concerts that will explore the depths of music

Beau Sassers Escape Plan will perform at the Stone Church on Saturday at 8 pm.Strange Machines will perform on Friday at 8 pm.

BRATTLEBORO- The Stone Church, 210 Main Street, is hosting a 420 weekend of music and inviting the public to partake in the fun.
On Friday, April 20, from 8 pm to 1 am, it’s High Holidaze with Strange Machines and special guest Outer Style.
Boston-born, New England-based quartet Strange Machines has been steadily making a name for itself in the East Coast jam scene. What started as a band focused on rock and reggae has slowly melded into a true melting pot of musical fusion, with sounds catering to funk, livetronica, heavy rock, and a multitude of other genres. String all that goodness together and you’ve got a fluid and captivating live performance. Their original songs are nuanced by creative composition, practiced precision, and a looseness that allows them to truly explore the music they create.
Founding member Mike MacDonald and long-time keyboardist Christian Perron, with the additions of Craig Holland on bass and Isaac Civitello on drums, have honed in their sound and hit their stride as a four piece. “Voice of Color,” the band’s first-full length release, is a representation of what the band has developed into, diving further into progressive experimental rock and funk more than ever before. Striving to consistently deliver a high energy and engaging live performance, the band has continued to gain momentum in the Northeast and beyond. This album aims to capture the diversity and big sound participants will experience at a Strange show.
Outer Stylie is a rock band located in the creative vortex that is the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts. Originally coming together in 2008 and releasing an eponymous album that same year, the band came to fruition in 2014 around the current line-up, evident through the many line-up changes and the vast difference in sound between albums. Their search equates to evolution and their new album, ” Puzzles,” fully exemplifies the uniqueness of their sound: equal parts hard rock, psychedelic, groove, and soul.
The weekend of music continues with a night of wild and rowdy fun on Saturday, April 21, when Beau Sasser’s Escape Plan with special guest Sweet Pond will be performing from 8 to 11 pm.
If the fabled Dr. Funkenstein set out to make a two-headed, ivory-tickling, guitar-ripping, gut-busting, crowd slaying monster and a catastrophic disaster in the lab went perfectly wrong, Beau Sassers Escape Plan would be the byproduct.
Beau has assembled dueling guitarists Danny Mayer (Alan Evans Playonbrother, On The Spot Trio) and Justin Henricks (Groovestick), Bill Carbone on drums (Max Creek, Z3), as well as vocalist Mary Corso to craft a perfect brew of organ-driven, hard-hittin’, boogaloo-rooted power funk with a rock ‘n’ roll spirit. This Northampton, MA, five-piece funk machine is a happy accident that came out of the lab with a mission and no sign of stopping anytime soon.
Sweet Pond is a rich amalgamation of different styles of pop music, from disco to soul to head-banging rock. Smooth vocal harmonies amid blazing instrumentation leave scorched earth in the band’s wake. With the path cleared, there’s room for the listener to get lost in the groove of the music.
Tickets for the Friday, April 20, show start at $12. Tickets for the Saturday, April 21, show range from $7 to $10. For more information or to purchase tickets visit www.stonechurchvt.com or call (802) 579-9960.
