Get ready for Green Up Day, May 5

App now available
MONTPELIER-  A Vermont tradition since 1970, Green Up Day is a statewide event when over 22,000 volunteers come together to remove litter from roadsides and public spaces, and this year there is a Green Up Day app for participants.
The app focuses primarily on bringing people together, such as groups of friends or business employees who can coordinate their group clean-ups. It also enables users to pin where they are dropping their full Green Up bags, and to see where bags have already been dropped, potentially creating less overlap on areas that have already been cleaned.   To download the Android or IPhone version of the app go to www.codeforbtv.org.
Green Up Day is always the first Saturday in May, and this year Green Up Day is Saturday, May 5.

Wilmington pickup begins at 9:30 am
WILMINGTON- Anyone who would like to volunteer for Green Up Day should come between 9:30 and 10:30 am, Saturday, May 5, to Buzzy Towne Park.  At that time, special trash bags will be given out and routes will be assigned. If a group would like to participate or if people have a special area in Wilmington that they would like to green up, sign up in the town office lobby prior to May 5. Bags will also be available there before May 5.
Any interested individual, group or family may show up at the designated time, rain or shine. Sturdy shoes and work gloves are recommended.  Elementary school children should be accompanied by an adult at all times during green up activities.
All Wilmington volunteers are invited to take a break in their litter cleanup between 11:30 am and 12:15 pm, when free hot dogs and soda will be available at the old high school cafeteria on School Street.
